DART stands for Disaster Assistance and Response Team. It is the disaster relief division of GAiN (Global Aid Network), an international humanitarian organisation operating in over 50 countries to provide relief and development aid.

GAiN focuses on helping people regardless of race, religion, or nationality, funded entirely by private donations and grants. DART complements GAiN’s regular long-term projects by deploying trained volunteers for quick, flexible responses in disaster areas.

Our Mission in Action

DART not only aims to address ongoing humanitarian issues, but also those short-term in nature. Our Disaster Assistance and Response Team provides clothing, shelter, and emergency food and water during unforeseen crises, such as flooding, cyclones, earthquakes, and pandemics.

Our objective is to come alongside people experiencing crisis and calamities to meet their needs, alleviate their suffering, and minimise threats. And even long after these crises stop making the headlines, we partner with local churches and like-minded field partners to provide ongoing support to communities.

A Global Network with a Proven History

The concept of DART evolved after the 2004 Southeast Asia tsunami and the 2010 Haiti earthquake, leading to the first official training in Latvia in 2012. DART’s debut mission in 2014 supported displaced people in Iraq’s Kurdish region, distributing aid over 15 weeks.

Today, DART has grown with ongoing volunteer trainings, dedicated staff, and continued long-term partnerships in disaster zones. It operates within GAiN’s global network, with offices in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
