Swamps, Wells, and Answered Prayers: Highlights from Tanzania

Our mission team of 18 has officially arrived safely back home in Australia and Canada!

While our team members are glad to be back with their families, they have returned with incredibly full hearts. Because of your faithful prayers and financial support, lives on the ground in Tanzania have been completely transformed.

We want to take you on a quick journey behind the scenes to share some of the most unforgettable moments from the field.
On Day 5 of the mission, our team stood at the edge of a murky, unprotected swamp. For generations, this was the primary water source for a local community.

Seeing the dirty, stagnant water that families relied on for drinking, bathing, and cooking was a surreal moment for everyone on our team.

But we did not stay there. Working hand-in-hand with the brilliant local GAiN Tanzania staff, we got to work.
Today, because of your generosity, that community no longer has to make the long, exhausting walk to the swamp. Instead, they have a deep-capped well built into solid ground. They now have pure, clean water right in their village.

Clean water is only half the story. To ensure these projects have a lifelong impact, health and hygiene training is absolutely essential.

Our team joined the local staff at a school to run interactive hygiene workshops. When hundreds of excited kids showed up, we turned the lesson into a massive celebration!
We spent the afternoon teaching life-saving habits through high-energy games, an impromptu community dance, and an epic footrace on the school grounds. Watching 336 kids laugh, play, and learn together reminded us that clean water brings safe health and pure joy.

During the trip, we had the privilege of celebrating the completion of several new wells.

One massive well alone is serving a community of over 2,800 people and a school of 500 students!

Standing by these wells, we were deeply moved by the unique, faithful paths that funded them.

We celebrated the well funded by Gabriel and Caeden, from Iron for Water, who completed 6 months of intense Ironman training. We also celebrated another well funded by Giles and his family, who spent 8 years fundraising with Giles playing his harmonica.

Different stories, different seasons, but the exact same heartbeat of love for the people of Tanzania.
While we are passionate about physical health, our ultimate goal is holistic transformation. Over two beautiful, clear evenings, we partnered with local churches to host outdoor screenings of the JESUS Film.

We brought water for the body, and living water for the soul.

One of the sweetest highlights for our team was watching a young local boy whose eyes were completely glued to the screen the entire night, utterly captivated by the story of Jesus. By working closely with local pastors, we know these communities will continue to be spiritually supported and nurtured long after our team has returned home.

For many of our participants, simply connecting with the local communities was a massive highlight of the entire trip.

Getting to see firsthand how families live their lives on the other side of the world broke down barriers and built instant, beautiful friendships.
In fact, many lifelong friendships were forged during this journey. For several of our team members, this trip was also a deeply clarifying experience, sparking a powerful revelation and a strong desire to get even more involved with mission work in the future.

Here is what one of our team participants, Alain, shared about his experience on the ground:

"One of the most impactful aspects was seeing how practical support, local church partnerships, and genuine relationships work together to create lasting change.

Thank you to everyone who invested time, effort, and prayer into making this experience possible. It is a trip that I will remember for many years to come."

We are home, but the mission continues. Right now, there are still villages waiting, hoping, and praying for the gift of clean water.

As we approach the end of the financial year, we are already looking ahead to the next village on our list. If you would like to help us build another deep-capped water well through our EOFY appeal, you can make a tax-deductible gift before 30 June.

Thank you for partnering with us to bring clean water and hope to Tanzania. We are so grateful to have you on this team!
