Commitment: Disaster deployments (minimum 3 weeks), with training and preparation throughout the year
We’re looking for a compassionate, spiritually mature, and servant-hearted volunteer to join the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) as a Spiritual Guidance Coordinator.
Disaster response is physically, emotionally, and spiritually demanding. As the Spiritual Guidance Coordinator, you’ll help care for the wellbeing of the DART team by fostering a Christ-centred culture of prayer, encouragement, unity, and compassion. You’ll support team members throughout deployments while building respectful relationships with local churches and Christian partners, ensuring our humanitarian response reflects the love of Jesus through unconditional, needs-based assistance.
If you have a heart for pastoral care, discipleship, and encouraging others in challenging environments, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
● Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and spiritual support to DART team members
● Organise and facilitate times of prayer, worship, and reflection throughout deployments
● Support the Team Leader in caring for the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of the team
● Foster a healthy team culture built on unity, compassion, humility, and servant leadership
● Build respectful relationships with local churches and Christian partners where appropriate
● Encourage culturally sensitive engagement with disaster-affected communities
● Help ensure all humanitarian assistance is delivered unconditionally, based solely on need, and in accordance with GAiN’s values
● Spiritually mature with a heart for pastoral care and servant leadership
● A compassionate listener who encourages and supports others
● Comfortable leading prayer, devotions, and times of spiritual reflection
● Calm, resilient, and able to care for people in emotionally demanding environments
● An excellent communicator who builds positive relationships across cultures
● Passionate about demonstrating the love of Christ through practical service
● Motivated by purpose and committed to serving both the team and disaster-affected communities
● Make a meaningful difference by supporting the spiritual wellbeing of disaster response teams
● Use your pastoral gifts to encourage, strengthen, and care for those serving on the front lines
● Be part of a highly trained, purpose-driven Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART)
● Receive training, mentoring, and ongoing development opportunities
● Learn industry-standard humanitarian disaster response practices through real-world deployments
● Work within a global humanitarian network with offices in more than 11 countries, collaborating with experienced disaster response professionals
● Develop your leadership, pastoral care, cross-cultural ministry, and team-building skills
● Build lifelong friendships while serving alongside passionate volunteers who share a heart for humanitarian aid
● Experience the privilege of helping teams remain spiritually strong while bringing hope and compassion to communities in crisis
If you’re ready to use your gifts in pastoral care and spiritual leadership to support disaster response teams and demonstrate Christ’s love through compassionate service, we’d love to hear from you.
Join the DART team and help strengthen those who are bringing hope to the world’s most vulnerable communities.
