Myanmar Relief Project

GAiN teams in Myanmar keep doing Myanmar Cyclone Relief effort in Cyclone Nargis affected delta region. One of the GAiN teams that consisted of nine members went to Laputta, Myaung Mya and Pyin Sa Lu townships in the Delta region on the 6th of July for a two week mission. The team distributed humanitarian aid such as rice mix, water purification devices, beverages, radios, slippers for adults and children, rolls of carpet, stationary sets for students, ceramic cups, baby pillows, air-freshener packs, cup candles and adult and children bibles to thousands of Cyclone victims in Quin Yar, Sin Chaung, Se Lone Dan, Hlwa Zin Gone, Po Ni Lay Gone, Dani Poat, Tar Lu Pha Htaw and Tha Gone villages. The team travelled in a three ton truck from Yangon to Myaung Mya and then by boat to the above villages in three townships. The Team members contributed worship, dancing, Jesus film showing to many villages and children.

The team has seen a remarkable change int he people's lives during the trip. The children are smiling and playful and not the same as shortly after the cyclone. Many of the villagers have overcome the traumatized situation and have began living normal lives again. But the farmers have a lot of difficulties to plant the crops because of the shortage of buffalos that died in the cyclone. Another problem facing them is the lack of fish int he rivers to catch for their daily food. They are hoping that the situation will be getting better in the coming months. Many of them have a fear that the Cyclone will come back again.
